This brought up a question for me- to what degree is MPEG-4/SAOL going to
be allowed to be played in real time? The main application is to play an
MPEG-4 file for sure, but is there some provision to trigger instruments
defined in the MPEG-4 file from a MIDI keyboard or other controller, to
function in a way similar to Perry Cook's SynthKit. Csound is starting to
have this dual identity, why not SAOL?

Are there any projected dates for the first release of the test compiler
for SAOL? Even ballpark figures?

Steven Curtin
