Here's a benchmark table for sfront -- eventually this will
be part of our website, updated as sfront gets optimized and as
a better benchmark suite develops, but this should give a sense
of what to expect in both compression ratio and run time.
BTW, there's now an v0.38 version of sfront available
at:
http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~lazzaro/sa
This should be functionally identical to sfront 0.37, except
it incoporates lots of changes to reduce the warning messages for
Borland C++ under windows (thanks to Ross Bencina for these changes!).

P.S. The "physical model" examples aren't in the sfront/examples/
directory yet, we'll be cleaning them up and putting them there
eventually -- these are all taken from the examples in John
Wawrzynek's chapter in "Current Directions in Computer Music
Research", a book by MIT Press published in 1989, Max Mathews and John
Pierce editors.
