Great, I've heard back from Michael McGonagle that sfront 0.56 compiles
and runs well under Cygwin's Windows environment, which is gcc-based,
so I think its safe to declare that the problem was merely with the
gcc 2.7* codebase -- modern gcc's (including the one that can be
downloaded on the sfront download page) are based on the ecgs code,
and will work fine.

Oh, I'm happy to host the Windows distributions, I just can't build and
