I'd be happy to look at any mp4 files you have -- just send them along.
Eric and I did lots of cross-compatability tests last summer and fall,
and found bugs both in sfront and saolc -- I don't know to what degree
the saolc bug-fixes made it into the saolc version you're running,
if there's no saolc distribution with those patches in it, it just won't
be possible to create an "mp4" file that reads with both tools ...
I just downloaded the latest saolc:

Grepping it shows Corrigendum patches labeled 21 Feb 00, so hopefully
this has all the mp4 encoding patches as well ...
