SAOG reflector is active - purposes

Dear all,

two days ago I sent out a kick-off message for the
SAOG Forum mailing list and activities.

The mailing-list will possibly host discussions related to the SAOG
purposes, i.e. SA-related open-source development, with
a special bias towards integration of SA in wider industrial
activities or multi-partners (and multi-tools) collaboration projects.

saog-forum is not intended to replace saol-dev and saol-users
lists, which are now well established and well working.
I personally see them as the reference address
for developers and users mainly interested in making music
by SA and coming from a computer music and information
technology background.

On the other side the saog-forum can
be seen as a place for "integration" of SA into different
environments such as signal processing, multimedia applications,
synthetic and hybrid virtual applications and many more, for
people not necessarily with a strong experience in software synthesis
languages and related tools. In this sense the open-source
initiative for SA-related parts (of wider activities) can result in a great
benefit for many.

I also want to remember that people willing to present their
results, data, activities etc. on the SAOG Forum web pages can
send their proposals and advertisements; material will be published
according to rules explained in the SAOG agreement.

A final note: the EPFL released today version 1.3 of SAINT,
including the execution engine, which constitutes
a kind of core around which complete implementations
of the SA standard can eventually be done. This is not
the complete amount of software we developed for SAINT,
some parts were cut, some others were replaced, but in the
end I believe that this is the most important and interesting
(or so I hope) stuff. Interested people can find details at the
SAOG/Projects pages (http://sound.media.mit.edu/saog or
http://lsiwww.epfl.ch/saog ).

My best regards,

        Giorgio
