There is an MPEG meeting Oct 11-16th. This is the last chance
for anyone to make any changes to the specification. There
will be an editing period after this to incorporate agreed-
upon changes (typically 3 weeks for the text and 6 weeks for
the software). At this point the specification is frozen
and goes out to the various National Bodies (ANSI in the
USA, for example) for voting.

So indeed, the specification of SAOL and the rest of the MPEG-4
Structured Audio tools (and MPEG-4 as a whole) is completely
final by about the 1st of November, and the 'saolc' reference
software soon after that.

I'm giving a talk on SAOL at ICMC this weekend, by the way --
hope to see some of you there.
