Hi Lars,

The reference implementation "saolc" is slow because it was written for
illustrative purposes (eg the code is obvious, not efficient.) There are a
number of faster implementations being developed, probably the best option
for windows is "sfront" which converts saol code into "C" which you then
compile with a C compiler. Sfront is developed by John Lazzaro and
distibuted under the GPL:

If no one else has done so, and there is enough interest I would be prepared
to build a stand alone binary distribution of sfront bundled with a gpl C
compiler.
