CPS (http://www.bonneville.nl/cps/) has a joystick object by default. Very
suitable for realtime performance.
Perhaps you don't need it, but CPS 1.1 (coming up soon) also has a serial
port object, with which you can hook up a decent sensor to your serial port
directly (or use the keyboard or mouse input as big sensors - you can use
their input directly in a patch).
