Hi saol-dev and saol-users folks,
Now that I'm out from under my thesis (see my personal home page
if that interests you) I have some time to work on SA matters for
a few weeks.
1. I've put together a hypermail archiving system to make it
easier to read the archives of these mailing lists. Go to
http://sound.media.mit.edu/mpeg4/saol-dev and
http://sound.media.mit.edu/mpeg4/saol-users to see them.
The saol-dev archive is broken out by year, since it has about
three times the traffic of saol-users right now.
2. I am starting work on a SA corrigendum to fix problems in
the standard. I will start with my own notes and the suggestions
that have been provided by Robin Davies and John Lazzaro. Anyone
who has more comments and suggestions for fixes in the paper
standard should get them ready. Don't send them to me yet,
though.
3. I am going to collect a set of SA bitstreams and textual SAOL
orchestras to expand the conformance part of the standard. This
will be an official collection of tests that developers can use
to check compliance of their tools, and users can see examples
of various kinds of SAOL code and functions. Again, anyone
who has been making regression-test suites during their
implementation process, or any musicians who would like to donate
fancy SAOL code, should get it ready.
4. I'd like to completely redo the SA home page. Is there
anyone who has web-design skills that would like to help?
