I've been subscribing to this list since it began,
always putting off checking out SAOL. Well, today
I did it. I spent about eight hours going through
the (excellent) manual, and tweaking instruments.
To all involved, I give my sincerest congratulations!
This tool is so very well conceived and constructed.
I have been living with Csound for years, but that
will change. I had no idea how much better the syntax
of SAOL was.
I could rave on, but you get the idea. This is the
greatest thing to happen to my Linux music by far.
I get efficient real-time in and out. The system
compiled and installed with tiny effort, and I felt that
I already new how to program in SAOL. This is probably
because I have been wishing for something better than
Csound so hard that I just about duplicated the SAOL
syntax in fantasy.
And now it is reality. I haven't felt this enthusiastic
about computer music since I first made a cmusic score in
school. I feel like a kid again!
Thanks,
Tobiah
