Thanks for the report, I'll pass it on to the PortAudio list and see
if I can track this down ...

It was marked "alpha" and has a "last changed" date of March, which made
me reticient to try to build an sfront release on it -- there were a few
Mac folks who wanted to get started with networking experiments now, so
I thought this Carbon driver might be a good tool for them. But I agree,
CoreAudio is really the right way to go for OS X ...
