This may get misinterpeted, so let me clarify it -- Ed sent me another
note on the problem, and in fact the sfront source tree compiles just fine
under the full GNU environment under Windows, and when used as a program to
write audio files (i.e. output.wav files), sfront 0.61 works correctly in
this compiler+OS combination.
The real problem was that the Dsound driver doesn't compile under GCC --
as has always been the case, you need a Microsoft development environment
to be able to compile sa.c files that use the DSound driver. I'll add
a note to the GCC download part of the webpage to make this clear.
And as we discussed earlier on the lists, even with Microsoft tools, the
DSound driver is still a work in progress -- if you're interested in
low-latency and streaming output from sa.c files in the short term, the
only satisfactory path at this point is to install a Linux partition.
