I just had a question in regards to license fees required for use of
MP3/4. In another mailing list, a comment was made that for every MP3
out there, there is (supposed to be) a fee paid to someone, they did not
mention who got it, just that someone was collecting monies for using
the MP3 format. I have never check into the MP3 issues, as I have not
done anything with MP3, nor do I know much about it. Does anyone know
for sure about this? (know of a link somewhere?)
Everything that I have seen so far on MP4 (or at least SAOL), has been
released under the GPL, OR am I wrong here. Does someone still owns the
rights for using the MP4/SAOL format and they will be expecting
royalties.
